Philadelphia's International Natural Hair Meetup Day

Posing with the fabulous hostesses of the
International Natural Hair Meetup Day Event in Philadelphia
(M.) MsAlyse and (L.) Juboolee

Last weekend, natural haired women in the Philadelphia area gathered to attend the INTERNATIONAL NATURAL HAIR MEETUP DAY event.

Women of all hair textures sported their locs/dreads, twa (teeny-weeny-afro), kinky/curly fros or protective styled coiffs with confidence.

We engaged in conversations about our hair journey, learned how to maintain our mane by professional natural hairstylist, and checked out cool products from local vendors. Here are a few pics I captured.

An adorable baby natural sporting her twist and enjoying her veggies (broccoli).

Beautiful natural haired Mommy and baby.

We helped ourselves to healthy and deliciously made food, catered by Chef Trenay Parker of EatGood Distributors, LLC. She is a food distributor, nutrition and fitness consultant who provides great quality and healthy food services that include gourmet catering to businesses/consumers/events, training in food safety and handling, as well as fitness.

The food by far was AMAZING! Everything was fresh and well presented. Nothing overly spicy, salty or bland, just the right amount of kick and flavoring for all palettes, especially for the picky eaters.

The broccoli and cheddar bites were new to me. I never had them before. I had to give it a try. I popped one in my mouth and was hooked after the first bite.

Jenny Melendez of Jen's Army, with her son

Jenny Melendez was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. As a result, her friends and family joined together and formed JEN'S ARMY. Due to the incredible support, Jennifer was able to take on cancer with a positive and strong outlook and believes this was a primary factor in her receptive response to treatment. She continues her treatment at this time, but feels compelled to help others. JEN'S ARMY will begin by helping others diagnosed with cancer. As the army grows, the intention is to encourage others to help anyone in need. The goal is to change JEN'S ARMY from a team into a movement.....

In continuation of helping others, the host(s) donated unused hair products to Jen's Army. The products will be given to cancer patients who have completed chemo.

When you find out you're leaving with a bag of free samples!

Some of the samples in my bag. (Haven't tried them yet, but looking forward to them)
I really enjoyed myself at INHMD (Philly). MsAlyse and Juboolee were the greatest host and are making strides to put Philadelphia on the map for Natural hair events and activities. So blessed to have met them and a number of phenomenal, positive men and women. Hope that next year will be even greater and that you (the readers) will be there to join in.
