Hair Product Review: Obia Natural Hair Care

Hey Naturelletes!

I've finally came around to posting a hair product review. Normally, I purchase my own products and try them out before making my remarks. Well, this particular one I didn't purchase. I won a full package through a giveaway that Natural Chica and Obia had a while back You can check it out (HERE).  I was super excited and truly grateful to receive this prize. The package included Obia Naturals' Coconut Shea Shampoo Bar, Curl Moisture Cream, Curl Enhancing Custard and Curl Hydrating Spray.

Since most of my old products were running low, I felt it was time to finally give Obia Natural Hair Care a try (just a few of them). I usually finish the products I have on hand and give my hair some time before using something new. So lets get this review started, shall we? Of course!

COCONUT SHEA SHAMPOO BAR
The Coconut Shea Shampoo Bar is the realness. Yeeessss God! Let me tell you, I love vanilla, butterscotch, coconut scents and this bar here smelled so good. It was purely coconut heaven.

After several uses, my hair felt super soft and still looked moisturized. The plus about this bar is that the curls were defined. Especially when I work into sections of my hair. Using my fingers to detangle and palms to smooth, my curl patterns were showing off. The shampoo bar does lather well but not super sudsy, which I don't have a problem with. When I rinsed my hair, my scalp felt and looked clean and free from product build-up that accumulated during the week. After using this several times I noticed my hair has not shed as much compared to other shampoos I have used.  I think I would definitely purchase this once my shampoo bar is done.

CURL MOISTURE CREAM
The curl moisture, to be honest, I only tried once with the curl enhancing custard. That's because I still have some creams I would like to finish using first before my hair gulps this baby up. So there is not much to say about it. The only thing I can say, from the one-time strand test use. When you put the curl moisture cream and custard together, the strand felt soft and did not feel weighed down.

Ingredients for the curl moisture cream.

CURL ENHANCING CUSTARD
The Curl Enhancing Custard, I have tried it alone more than once. I use it only when I put my hair in a bun. I haven't tried it for a twist or braid out. So far, this custard keeps my strands in place without any frizzies or fly aways. Did I mention this keeps your hair smooth and gives waves. Well, I noticed my wavy patterns when I remove my scarf. I did not see any filmy residues, maybe because I don't use too much of it.
Below are some of the shots I took when I tested the Curl Enhancing Custard for the first time. When I first applied it, I made sure to wet my hair. Not too damp to the point where my hair is dripping wet, but just enough saturation. I chose hair from the back (nape) because it is the area where I don't get much curl action. I like to run the product into my hair and smooth it from the roots to the ends. Then let my hair air dry.

A few hours later as it air dried, the curls were still there.  As visible as it could be.
Shrunken a tad bit, but the little ringlets are there.
Ooh, the way the sun lights rays was shining through the window, it makes me want to shout.
Wow, ain't God marvelous?

CURL HYDRATION SPRAY
Last but not least, the Curl Hydration Spray. I love, love, love this spray. I have to say this though, on the initial trial use, it wasn't on the level of I love it. When I first used it, I thought I was getting an allergic reaction to it. It was kind of weird. I felt like my scalp had a slight burning tingling sensation. I almost freaked out. You would think I would wash it out, but no I didn't. I grabbed my oil I prayed on and massaged it in the area I applied the spray. Next thing I know it stopped. Thank goodness I didn't spray it all over my head like I was in the "Soul Glo" commercial from Coming To America Movie.

I am assuming since my scalp was dry in that area, the first use I should have applied some oil to my scalp.  After that little scare, I did hold off from it and decided to use it the following week. This time I applied oil to my scalp and then sprayed. After that my scalp was fine. My scalp and hair has grown accustom to it. I use it most of the time when I install braids or when my hair is in its afro state and when I do my braid outs. The reason why I love this spray so much now is because it makes my hair manageable to comb and braid, leaving it moisturized and freshly scented like roses. Hence, the rose oil added in the ingredients. I like to keep it in a cool place or in the fridge. I just like to do that and make sure it last. Will I buy this? I would, soon as this bottle is empty.

Overall, I think the Obia's Natural Haircare line is pretty good. I gave it an 8, only because I only tried and have been consistent with two products which are the hydration spray and shampoo bar.  I know,  I will be buying both the shampoo bar and hydration spray since I have been using them more than the curling custard and moisture cream. I did stop by the online store (Click HERE) to view the pricing. Her prices are reasonable and affordable, which is a plus for my pockets.  Personally, I like the results I have with what I've used and it has worked so far for me. If you are considering trying it out you may not have the same reaction to it as I did. Like I always say, what works for me may not work for you and vice versa.

I would love to hear your thoughts about it, if you tried any of Obia's Natural HairCare products.

Which one was your favorite and which one would you like to try? Feel free to ask questions and comment freely.

Stay beautiful, humble and walk in your purpose by faith. You have greatness inside of you!

Ciao!
